Management Accountant

📍 Staplehurst, Kent
💰 £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
🕒 Full-Time | Permanent | 40 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant on behalf of our client based in Staplehurst, Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to join a busy finance team and work closely with senior leadership to support financial performance and strategic decision-making.

The Role

Working closely with the Managing Director and Head of Finance, you will be responsible for preparing, analysing, and reporting financial information to ensure the business has accurate and timely data to support operational and strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accruals, prepayments, and month-end journals
  • Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitor company bank accounts and manage supplier payment runs
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Produce monthly management accounts with commentary and analysis
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Oversee the purchase-to-pay (P2P) process and approvals
  • Support the annual budgeting process and financial analysis
  • Assist with rolling forecasts (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow)
  • Analyse financial and operational performance indicators
  • Investigate trends and recommend improvements to business performance
  • Provide product costing analysis to support senior management decisions
  • Liaise with external auditors and support the year-end audit process
  • Manage a small finance team including Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control staff

Requirements

  • Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar role
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills
  • Experience using Sage 200
  • Knowledge of purchase-to-pay (P2P) systems
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Desirable

  • Experience within the FMCG industry
  • Experience supervising or managing finance staff
